MENTORSHIP - A Performing Arts Mentor
Co-op Program
The mentorship program creates opportunities for secondary school students to teach directed arts classes to elementary students, ranging from grades 1 to 8. through a semester series of Ontario Arts curriculum focused demonstrations.
APPRENTICESHIP - CONNECT Project - an arts based "life experience" for youth at risk
The Connect Project is a life experience program which generates self confidence, self esteem and awareness in at risk students. Along with the study and presentation of theatre, dance, the visual arts and music, this program introduces awareness in a practical way to the skilled trades that exist in the Arts and Entertainment business. This serves to CONNECT the students to the career possibilities of the 4th largest industry sector in Canada and bridge them to many exciting career choices they would likely have never considered.
To date, the CFKA has provided arts experiences to over 35,000 children and youth
- inspire creativity, self confidence and self esteem
- stimulate the learning experience, helping students succeed in other areas of school and life
- reinforce learning in other disciplines, such as math, reading and writing
- introduce a variety of career choices
