Classical Ballet Program

From Primary ballet to structured dance classes and annual exams, the Conservatory offers complete education in Classical ballet. We are fortunate to have gifted teachers who foster student confidence and a love of dance. As skills and techniques are learned, there is an emphasis on expanding repertoire and the preparation of interested students for furture endeavours, either in a professional career, or a lifetime of dancing for joy.

Primary and Novice classes generally have a maximum of apporoximatly 10 students, while Junior and Senior classes have a maximum of approximatly 15.

Ballet

This program introduces all children ages 2 - 6 to the creativity inherent in dance. The program highlights the development and encouragement of movement through music, rather than stressing structure and technique. This harmony is an important first step for further study and the enjoyment of dance.

When students reach the novice level of ballet they begin to take examinations with the Society of Russian Ballet. Exams are not compulsory however everyone studies the same work.

The Artistic Director evaluates the students throughout the year to encourage them and make them aware of areas that must be strengthened.

Exams take place sometime in the Spring depending on the availability of the examiners.
