“It is the common things that compel me to paint; busy streets, factories and harbours. I have always lived or worked in a city. Through paint and canvas I want to share the awe and excitement of a passing rumbling streetcar, the magnitude of a ship in port and measure the heartbeat of a city which I love. With oil paint, brush and palette knife I chronicle the beauty of everyday life around us.”
Murray Van Halem is a Canadian cityscape, landscape and portrait artist working in oils.
