Unleash Your Creativity

Creativity is usually regarded as a mysterious, rare gift that few possess. But the truth is anything but mysterious: it’s about finding a process that works for you.

Whether you’re just getting started or looking to unblock, we’ll look at practical methods to help you unleash your creativity to put it to practical use. Classes will consist of a mix of on your feet activities and reflections.

Participants will be asked to develop a project of their choosing throughout the class, with the focus being on process rather than results.  Each week steps will be taken to help see the project through to completion. While this class will be aimed at storytellers (written word, oral, songwriters, video creators) all people looking to explore their creativity are welcome to join.

From Drawing to Watercolour

In this workshop, students will learn how to draw the human figure and translate these drawings into watercolour paintings. The first half of the program will focus on pencil drawings in order to construct a solid foundation for painting technique. During the second half of the workshop, students will paint with watercolours using concepts of abstract painting. Each student will be encouraged to explore their own personal style.

Q: Do I need to know how to draw or any experience to take this course?

A: Not at all, if you don’t have any experience you will learn the basics and get to know techniques to paint in watercolours and have fun doing it. And if you already know how to draw or have experience with watercolours, you will have more tools to improve your art.

“HCA is like a home away from home. A place to pursue your creative passion with amazing instructors and likeminded students.”
“The HCA is like a second home to me! I’ve been part of the HCA family first as a young dancer, and now well into my professional singing career. The teachers/coaches/mentors at HCA are easily the best in the GTA and they provide you with knowledge, training and support you need when going into the Fine Arts world as a young professional. I wouldn’t have wanted to train and perfect my craft anywhere else!”
“The Hamilton Conservatory is a really special place in our family. It’s a non-competitive environment where children’s love for dance, theatre, music, and arts are cultivated. We have met so many families and formed special friendships over the years because of HCA.”
“My daughters took their first dance steps at HCA and their first music classes here and have had amazing learning experiences in classes and at recitals. From the incredible level of instruction to the organization and professionalism of the administration, HCA is such a wonderful and special place for children of all ages to develop their artistic abilities. It really feels like home!”
“HCA has been a home to me for a decade. All the camps, classes, and programs have  formed my passion for the arts. Through this incredible place, I’ve formed friendships and memories that will last forever.  Everything that I’ve learned from the amazing teachers and staff members have shaped me and my passion for the arts. Thank you HCA for being my family.”
