Explore acting and devised theatre with two artist educators who are also professional actors/theatre makers. Over the course of this nine week intensive, students will finesse creation and acting techniques by working together to co-create and perform a piece of devised theatre with fellow classmates and instructors. The series will culminate in a public theatrical performance on the final evening of class. This program is designed for actors aged 14-18. Be at the forefront of Hamilton’s youth theatre movement.

Devised theatre is the process of collectively creating a performance piece of as a group - starting from scratch, using movement, text, music and any other creative form of interest to build story, script and then performance.

Absolutely! This intensive is the perfect introduction to devising theatre, and is ideal for students with any amount of theatre experience.

Each class will include acting games and exercises to build performance skills, as well as creation techniques that will evolve into content to shape a final performance piece. Latter classes in the series will include rehearsal techniques, and working alongside the instructors as co-performers concluding in a public presentation.

A water bottle, some snacks, clean, comfortable indoor shoes, clothes you can move in, and a notebook.

Companies like Frantic Assembly (Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - Broadway, West End and Mirvish) have used devised methods to create ground-breaking theatre presentations. Devised theatre is an amazing opportunity to work in an ensemble, create something relevant and meaningful to you, and be writer and performer. Who wants to choose?

Both Stephanie and Erica are professional actors, teaching artists and theatre makers. They have a passion for all of these elements of the art form and strongly believe in the potential and power of youth voice and creativity. They are also said to be kind and fun to work with!
