We welcome new students to join us throughout the term!

Encourage your toddler to be creative and initiate their own ideas through music, movement, and dramatic play! These playful sessions will provide the opportunity for your child to explore instruments and discover the joy of dancing, singing, storytelling and ensemble building from an early age. Join other parents and work with experienced teaching artists to encourage imaginative play, self-expression, playfulness and nurture your child's
burgeoning identity!

The first session of the term will act as a caregiver orientation. Children will be welcome to attend and will be provided with quiet activities whilst the caregivers are given more details about the program. The session will end with a demo of a class with the children.

The final session of the term will be a celebration/family participation class. Parents and kids will have the opportunity to meet each other, make music together and see what they can look forward to when they sign up for the next term or age group.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Creative Explorers programs are for both parent and child. Each participant must be accompanied by one adult for the duration of the class.

Creative Explorers offers an excellent introduction to movement, music making, and storytelling through imaginative play. Activities will vary from week to week but all classes will include activities that are designed to meet your child’s developmental needs. This program has been created to inspire and foster a love of music in each family and to deepen the connection between a child and their caregiver through creative play.ons.

The first class of the term is a free orientation session. During the class, you will be told more about the program and what you can expect. There will then be a demonstration of typical class activities for you and your child to enjoy. After the introductory class, participants are required to register in full with the front desk before attending any subsequent sessions.

Our top priority is that you and your child have fun, make friends with other families and learning new skills which you can take back home. Whilst the thought of singing or participation might feel scary, it is so important that you model listening and participation for your child. You will be asked to support the children during activities but you will not be required to lead or instruct; all participation is guided by the teacher. Finally, keep this thought in mind- your voice is so important to your child. You can't teach a child to sing poorly but you can teach them to not sing!

Creative explores offers an introduction to basic drama and imaginative play. Activities will vary from week to week but classes will typically involve some group singing, storytelling, music making and pretend play.

This program does not focus on performance or presentations. You will not be required or asked to perform in front of an audience. The final session of each term will be a celebration/family participation class. Families will have the opportunity to meet each other, make music together and celebrate what their child has learned and enjoyed in class.

In each class, the children will use a variety of rhythm instruments such as rhythm sticks, shakers, drums, and xylophones. The children will experience different sounds while engaging in activities that promote physical development. As they grow and progress to an older age group, they will work more with instruments and the skills they acquire would certainly help prepare them for playing a musical instrument in the future.

We recommend that you both wear comfortable clothing and flat, closed-toed shoes.

Yes. There will be a designated space for you to safely leave your stroller but please be aware there are several steps which lead up to the building from the front entrance. A member of staff will be happy to assist you, should you need help.

While we aim to have the same teacher for the full three sessions, this is not always possible.

All registered children need to be the correct age to participate as this program is specifically tailored to the needs and abilities of their age group. If your child has siblings younger than 12 months and you are able to still supervise your participating child in the class, then you are welcome to bring them with you.

To withdraw from a class, we require 30 days notice and you will be required to complete a cancellation form. HCA will calculate any outstanding fees or return any remaining payments. Students may still attend classes during this 30 day period. For withdrawal due to exceptional circumstances, please refer to the HCA Parent handbook.

Drama, music making, and creative play can be a wonderful tool for developing social skills, self-regulation, confidence, and resiliency. Our classes aim to be accessible to all the children we teach and our faculty work hard to provide enriching learning experiences for children with a wide range of abilities, cognitive and behavioral challenges. If you wish to discuss your child’s individual needs with us further, please contact Hanna Wolf at hanna@hcarts.ca or call 905-528-4020.
