Cassandra is a Hamilton born dance artist, educator and choreographer with a passion for quirkiness and physicality. After graduating from Ryerson University’s Performance Dance program, she furthered her training in Calgary with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks’ professional training program. Cassandra has continued to develop a unique style through the exploration of different movement genres. A fan of jazz, tap and rhythm, she thrives on anything groove based and filled with musicality. Cassandra strives to broaden the possibilities of uniting urban, jazz and contemporary/classical dance.
An active member of the GTA and Calgary dance communities, she has worked with and alongside companies such as Aeris Korper, The Parahumans, Rock Bottom Movement, Half Second Echo, Project InTandem, Peggy Baker Dance Projects and many others. She has choreographed for Hamilton Arts Week, Dusk Dances Hamilton, David Foster’s Miracle Foundation Gala and Swim Good Now’s Lonely Acres music video. Cassandra is Co-Artistic Director of Hamilton’s To the Pointe Dance Project (TTP), providing performance and training opportunities to emerging dance artists in the Hamilton and surrounding area. She recently produced, performed and choreographed for TTP’s debut full length show In Between Dreams and Sleep.
Cassandra believes in providing a safe, nurturing and enjoyable environment for all students. A focus on proper alignment, strength and body awareness helps integrate sustainable practices with growth and development. Her energy and passion for movement is shared in each class she teaches.
