I grew up listening to my mother play the piano and some of my earliest memories are of the two of us sitting on the piano bench as she shared her love of music with me. She was my first teacher and then I went on to study under various internationally renowned pianists and examiners with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. I completed Grade 10 Piano as well as Harmony and History and performed in several recitals in Toronto. I was the part-time organist at our church and also played the clarinet. I knew very early on that I wanted to pass along my love of music and have a career teaching piano and theory.
I went on to receive additional specialist training through the Canadian Bureau for the Advancement of Music in Toronto (a private school for piano instructors) and obtained certification as a Piano Class Teacher. I have taught group classes of up to 8 students through the Boards of Education in Toronto and Mississauga schools from beginners to level 4. Throughout my career I have taught in my home studio and at other music schools before I moved to the Hamilton area. I have successfully prepared students for Performance and Theory examinations at the Royal Conservatory and introduced them to a variety of genres of music.
I have taught all ages and all levels, from beginners to advanced students and I create individualized lesson plans that are appropriate for each student’s ability and interests. My goal is to educate and to inspire students to be the best musicians they can be and to help them develop a lifelong appreciation for music and the arts.
