Jason Scozzari is a pianist and educator based in Hamilton, Ontario.  He holds an Honours Bachelor of Music and Performance Diploma from McMaster University (Summa Cum Laude) and a Master’s in Music Theory from the University of Toronto. Currently, he is pursuing his ARCT in Piano Performance through the Royal Conservatory of Music, studying with renowned concert pianist Valerie Tryon. Jason has also studied Jazz piano with Adrean Farrugia and attended master classes with pianists Antoine Joubert and Samuel Deason.

Jason has participated in various competitions in Ontario and performed a solo recital at Convocation Hall, McMaster University. In 2014, Jason was chosen to record songs commemorating the 100th anniversary of World War I, which were broadcast nationally on CBC radio. He has also collaborated with author Kim Echlin in a project titled ‘Music and Words’, an integrated presentation of readings and musical performance. Jason often performs at corporate fundraisers, dinners, weddings and other events. He enjoys accompanying singers and instrumentalists and is a substitute pianist for various churches.

Passionate about helping others to enjoy music, Jason has maintained a private piano and theory teaching studio for the past eight years, working with students of all ages and all levels. He has successfully prepared several students for RCM examinations, many of whom achieved First Class Honours. Jason is also comfortable teaching popular and jazz styles. Each lesson is structured to meet the students’ individual goals while developing their overall musicianship.

Throughout undergraduate and graduate studies, Jason held a variety of Teaching Assistant positions for courses in advanced music theory (written Harmony, Keyboard Harmony, Ear Training and Sight Singing). Jason has received exceptionally positive teaching evaluations both at the private and university level.
