Visual Arts

Charlie is a multidisciplinary visual artist with origins in the French West Indies, Caribbean and Canada. The major running themes in her practice serve to encourage self-empowerment with the principle of Do It Yourself culture. With a varied palette and diverse techniques, she offers a teaching experience that encompasses experimentation and evolution for ideas to come to fruition.

Her life-long pursuit in the arts started as a small child in art camps in Brantford, to becoming an instructor at Glenhyrst Art Galleries, to officially receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University in Toronto, Ontario. Through her training, she was awarded the privilege of studying Renaissance and Classical Art in Florence, Italy. Since graduating, she has lived and traveled extensively with notable participation in artist residencies in Spain and South Africa. This has expanded her knowledge in global historical and contemporary practices.

Now settled in Hamilton, she offers a variety of art based workshops and programming with local institutions such as Centre 3 and Worker’s Arts and Heritage Centre. She is thrilled to bring a fresh and original approach to learning for students who are passionate about art-making.
