CLASS DESCRIPTION

Intro to Adult Pointe

This class is designed for adults who are brand new to pointe or returning after a long break, offering a supportive and gradual introduction to pointe work. The focus is on building strength, alignment, and body awareness through barre-based exercises, including rises, rolling through the foot, and learning to safely get on and off the box. Students will learn how to properly prepare, wear, and care for pointe shoes, with guidance on selecting the right fit in consultation with an experienced teacher or fitter. Emphasis is placed on injury prevention, proper weight distribution, and developing the muscular support needed for future progress. This class lays the groundwork for safe, confident, and enjoyable pointe work moving forward.

Prerequisite: Current enrolment in HCA’s ballet program, or with a teacher’s recommendation.
