CLASS DESCRIPTION

Junior Musical Theatre Ensemble

Dive into the world of musical theatre with our immersive, performance-driven program! Junior Musical Theatre Ensemble invites young performers of any and all experience levels to delve into their passion for singing, dancing, and acting as they study technique, learn music and choreography, and explore what it means to perform on stage. Discover the art of combining these elements for captivating ensemble and solo musical theatre productions. With two chances to shine on stage at the HCA Black Box Theatre, students will flourish in the limelight.

TERM ONE:
Building the Foundation: Dance, acting, and voice workshops; Developing character through large production numbers
Culminates in our annual Junior MTE Winter Showcase! (December)

TERM TWO:
Repertoire & Skill Building: Solo and small group exploration; Introduction of more complex harmonies and choreography

TERM THREE:
Set the Stage: Polishing rehearsals; Working with Senior MTE to stage a large production number
Culminates in our annual MTE Spring Showcases as part of the HCA Theatre School Spring Studio Performance Series, June

TAKE THE STAGE! This program involves two invited presentations in December and June in the HCA Black Box Theatre.

Stephanie Hope Lawlor

Stephanie Hope Lawlor is an award-nominated actor, director, program creator, and teaching artist with over two decades of professional experience. A leader in Hamilton’s theatre community, she is passionate about developing emerging artists and creating inclusive, supportive spaces where students can build confidence, explore their craft, and grow.

Production Fee

There will be a one-time $70 production fee, to be paid in March 2027.
