CLASS DESCRIPTION
Senior Musical Theatre Ensemble is an immersive, performance-centred program that welcomes teens of all experience levels! Students will develop their performance skills while studying voice, dance, and acting for the stage. Through studying popular musical theatre repertoire (ensemble, small group, and solo material), students will have the opportunity to challenge themselves, grow beyond their expectations, and shine on stage. Engage in mock audition exercises to test your abilities in a supportive atmosphere. With numerous performance chances throughout the year, Senior MTE students will excel on stage!
Course Breakdown
TERM ONE: Building the Foundation: Dance, acting, and voice workshops; Storytelling through staging production numbers. Culminates in our annual Senior MTE Winter Showcase! (December)
TERM TWO: Repertoire & Skill Building: Solo and small group exploration; Audition preparation; Acting through song. Culminates in a Solo Showcase! (March)
TERM THREE: Set the Stage: Polishing rehearsals; Working with Junior MTE to stage a large production number Culminates in our annual MTE Spring Showcases as part of the HCA Theatre School Spring Studio Performance Series, June
TAKE THE STAGE! This program involves three invited presentations in December, March and June in the HCA Black Box Theatre.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Emma Bergin
Emma is a Waterdown-born singer and voice teacher with a B.Mus in Voice Performance and M.Mus in Opera Performance from the University of Toronto. She teaches contemporary, commercial, and classical styles and is passionate about performing and supporting the arts community in Hamilton and Toronto.

Stephanie Hope Lawlor
Stephanie Hope Lawlor is an award-nominated actor, director, program creator, and teaching artist with over two decades of professional experience. A leader in Hamilton’s theatre community, she is passionate about developing emerging artists and creating inclusive, supportive spaces where students can build confidence, explore their craft, and grow.

Family: $50
Production Fee
There will be a one-time $70 production fee, to be paid in March 2027. This cover all printing, technical requirements, and other production-related expenses.
